Giselle
Mejia
Giselle Mejia began learning traditional
dances of Latin America and the Caribbean at La Semana culture
camp of Minnesota. Her father taught her the social dances of Latin
America in the nightclubs of Ecuador. She continued her dance training
at Larkin Dance Studio engaged in ballet, tap, jazz, character,
and hip-hop styles. She earned her BFA from SUNY Purchase College
in New York with a continued concentration on classical ballet
and modern dance techniques. She has been privileged to travel
to Spain, South America, China and Russia to perform at Principal
Theaters and study with National Dance Companies. She believes
that one must teach in order to truly understand how to learn and
eventually master the artistic endeavor of dance.
